Misty Blue, Dorothy Moore

by Dick Mac

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1946, Dorothy Moore started her professional career in 1965.

Misty Blue was released in 1976.

She still performs today, and has won 4 Grammy awards.

This is Dorothy Moore singing "Misty Blue" in a video made for television broadcasts.

Like many videos on the internet, all versions I find of this ends abruptly before the song ends, so I include an audio-only video below it.

I saw Dorothy Moore sing at a tribute for Wardell Quezergue, the famed New Orleans arranger, two years ago. She sang this song and also Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away." She was tremendous - perhaps the best performance of the evening (and there were a lot of heavy hitters). What I remember most from her performance was that she sang "Funny" as a triumphant song, rather than a kiss off or resigned song. I'd love to see her again.
