Captain Ray Lewis (Ret.)

by Dick Mac

This is not a very good video, and I find it difficult to listen to the drivel coming from off-camera; but that pales when compared to the obvious point:

A retired police captain, a member of the establishment (to use an old-fashioned term) has taken a public stand in support of the Occupy movement, has put his safety and reputation on the line, and is directing his message to fellow police officers.

Some municipal government (New York, Oakland, Seattle, and others) have criminalized the Occupy movement so they can squash it with violence. Other cities (Albany, for example) have protected the Occupiers and work with the Occupiers to maintain civil and easy-to-manage events.

The police who are doing the bidding of the bankers in New York, Oakland, etc., are actually working against their own best interests, and it is good that a retired cop whose entire reputation is at stake, has taken a public stand.

The next day, Captain Lewis was arrested:

Thank you, captain Lewis.

The best thing that happened to OWS was when they were mistreated (and I use the term loosely) by cops. OWS would be over if it weren't for the cop who maced those women. Similarly, the civil rights movement stalled in Albany, GA, where the police chief didn't use Bull Connor tactics.
