Everyone who saw Kirby Puckett play baseball in 1985 knew he was the real thing. I had the good fortune of seeing Puckett play at Fenway Park at least twenty times over the years and he was always one of my favorite players.
His early departure from the game in 1995 due to glaucoma was a real loss to baseball. His passing today is a loss to the world.
