Obama Shows He Is As Right-Wing As Most Of The Country

The Senate approved Goerge W Bush's surveillance bill (69-28).

Twenty-three Democrats in the Senate, including Obama, gave Bush what he wanted. Here is the list of Democrats who voted to strip you of your right to privacy:

Baucus (D-MT)
Bayh (D-IN)
Carper (D-DE)
Casey (D-PA)
Conrad (D-ND)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Isakson (R-GA)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Lincoln (D-AR)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Obama (D-IL)
Pryor (D-AR)
Roberts (R-KS)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Salazar (D-CO)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)

If your Senator is on that list, please do not vote for him or her again, and let them know your position.

Perhaps I won't vote for the Democratic nominee in November, after all. If Obama is going to pass laws like this, then we might as well have McCain! At least with McCain we know we're lost; why pretend Obama won't pull the same crap?

There are some good and thoughtful people who voted for the bill. It doesn't make me happy, but my first impulse is to find out why. These bills are never single issue/single action, no matter how the media, etc. try to reduce them to same when it serves their needs. Vote yes for surveillance on Americans? Hell, no! But it's not that simple. Before I vote (or omit to do so, which is the same thing) (or vote for the Republican nominees for the positions mentioned) for McCain, which is a vote to make abortion illegal, invade Iran, ravage our natural resources, and only pretend to understand the need for economic relief -- I'll be looking more deeply into this issue. I LOVE your blog, Dickmac, so I hope you will, too. Say it ain't so!
