It is World AIDS day and I am (alive!)

December 1 is World AIDS Day.

Please take some time today to consider the impact AIDS has had on your life and the world around you. How has AIDS impacted art, politics, fashion, music, education, sex, sexuality, motherhood, and outrage? What have you done to help those living with AIDS? What have you done to raise the awareness of HIV infection?

I have lost many friends to AIDS. Too many. I need you to take action today, if only today.

My friend Andrea is participating in the Red Ribbon Ride to raise money for nine Minnesota-based AIDS service organizations. She is trying to raise $1,500. Please help her in her efforts by visiting her page here.

Thank You is an HIV awareness program taking place in Khayelitsha, South Africa and New York City. Please visit this site to view the art and generate corporate donations for the program. (Thanks to Simon for sending this along.)

My friend Jim was featured at this page today.
